Yes, the official word is all we need....... Once we have somewhat of a date, I think that it will be nice to have something to look forward to. Right now all we know is the future, we just don't know when in the future.

Some of the latest buzz on P4...
]
Ain't It Cool News wrote: | CARS 2 is also being eyed for a 2011 slot, along with a third NATIONAL TREASURE film and a fourth PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.
In regards to PIRATES, two dramatically conflicting assessments about how a fourth film might be approached have been making the rounds.
Some indications suggest the film's story would be far more contained than its predecessors, allowing for a budget-friendly downsizing.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, there's been unsubstantiated talk that a fourth film would go the other way completely...think in terms of ultra fantastical (dinosaurs, Jules Verne-esque floating fortresses, etc.) Not sure how I feel about either notion, to be honest. Not sure if I even care to see a fourth PIRATES film at all. |

If they go with the former, then I'm interested.
If they go with the latter....*shudders*. I'd rather they let the thing die now. |

I agree... the twist of supernatural was cool in the movies, but even I was a little turned off when it got too in depth with all the Calypso stuff and curses surrounding her... I'd rather see an old fashioned Errol Flynn type pirate movie than a sci-fi Pirate flick. _________________

Yes, I am all for the sounds of the first. A great, old-fashioned pirate film, like CotBP, would be great and enjoyed by all. If the take the route with the flying machines, I shudder to think of what we will get. I like some supernatural, but I draw the line at flying machines.
It sounds like Disney will have some great films coming out in 2011. I know one little boy that will be very happy to see a Cars 2. I will be happy with POTC 4 and NT 3. _________________ Last three movies seen:

I must... post....
I could really go for a more fun, frollicking, adventurous, bawdy buddy movie if there is to be a fourth (and I don't mean make Jack and Barbossa too friendly). Forget all the love triangle crap, forget the grand CGI, and make it more like COTBP was.
Jack, WILL, Barbossa, the crew, and for the love of Pirates...bring back James Norrington! Nobody has to stay dead in POTC.

Hi everyone, Terry Rossio here, co-writer of the Pirates trilogy, and hopefully one of the co-writers for the possible Pirates of the Caribbean 4.
I just read through this thread and wow, I can't tell you how amazingly cool it is that there is so much interest among fans for the Pirates series. I love the intense examination of every detail, that's why we put them there (and without the fans, honestly, we'd have never been allowed to get away with making the films so complex). It's a major thrill to see posts with excerpts at the bottom of lines we wrote ...
All right, as for a Pirates 4, I feel compelled to write, and I don't want to bum anyone out, as of now, nothing has been decided. No dates have been set, no actors committed, no topics set, etc. I can't confirm or deny any rumors except to say they didn't start with us.
The process is still this: a screenplay needs to be written, the studio needs to be convinced to make it, a director (Gore) has to want to direct it and actors have to choose to play the parts. As I've said before, I believe we will try to solve the problem of a fourth movie. It's impossible to say, ahead of time, whether we'll be successful.
Sorry for the completely non-informative post, but that's the status. (Now, hopefully I won't get in trouble from Disney for saying nothing ...)
Thanks everyone for your continued faith and support! |

hello Terry..what an honour for us to have you read our ideas and hopes...and to be kept informed live on our site by one of the co- writers in person is, to this humble pirate at least, absolutely amazing and completely priceless, aye..not all treasure is silver and gold, mate!!
( sorry, couldnt resist! Oh Dang, I did it again.. )
Are you both aware that your lines form a part of our everyday language and we cannot help ourselves??LOL.
If you care to read some of the other threads on here...you will see that the films you have already given us have formed friendships worldwide through this very site, and have been nothing short of life-changing for many.
So from the heart of my bottom, THANK YOU both for the precious gift we already cherish, and which will never allow to wane....and any future delights to come will simply be icing on an already delicious cake!!
POTC is going to be around 20 years from now...just like Star Wars, Harry Potter and LOTR....mark my words!!

No Mangy, it will last MUCH farther than that.
Terry, thank you so much for informing us! We really appreciate it.
Just so you know, we all LOVE the rich world you and Ted created for us. I and a few friends even dedicated a lot of time creating an almost finished POTC encyclopedia http://www.piratehome.com

That is truly a great honor, that you visit this board and be so kind,
to post a comment here.
Thanks so much, Terry ( ehm ... Mr. Rossio).
I am not very good in explain myself in English ... because its not my native language ...
But I can second Mangy here 100 %.
She´s absolutely right and I feel the same way.
I just love the PotC triology... no matter what ...
As for the speculations around here ... well ... couldn´t help it,
since the rumours about a 4th part of PotC movie was pronounced on this board.
So, all in all ... take your time ... we can wait ...
And if you decide against it, that´s fine with me aswell ...
You all are allready had given us so much pleasure and excitement with the triology.
And I cannot thank you enough for it.
Sincerely,

I wouldn't mind if they continue Jack and Barbossa's adventures in novels more than on film, like they've done with Star Wars. Look how successful the young Jack Sparrow novels have been, so I would love to here more about the grown up Jack Sparrows' adventures with his nemesis Barbossa and the lovable characters from this wonderful series. _________________

Mr. Rossio, I echo the sentiments of my Mates. It is truly an honor to have you take time out of your very busy life to share with us. It is also an honor that you ARE one of us. I must tell you that this 48-year-old government professional finds great joy and excitement in the franchise of POTC. I see so many awful things going on around the world and when I've had enough, I can escape to POTC and KTTC to find calm, fun, interesting friendly debate, speculation, and above all friendship. If it were not for your creativity and willingness to share it with this funny old world, I and my Mates would never have found each other through KTTC. Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the center of my heart, thank you. Life IS better for the lot of us because of POTC!
Hopefully, we will all have the pleasure of meeting you some day. Until then, here is a great big cyber huggle from this ol' gal! _________________ Foundress of ODRBHS, SLDPOF, DLBC, and CKKS. CoFoundress of ROL"S" and CJPC.

Even if there is no news, it's an honor to see you and Mr. Elliott post here occasionally, Mr. Rossio! Usually I'm far too late to reply to one of your posts, so this is a refreshing change. Aw.
It's really nice to know that Mr. Rossio still thinks of us and lurks here at KTTC, though the franchise doesn't seem likely to continue and we know he's probably highly in demand for, and busy with, other projects.
To Ted and Terry, the great story-tellers of our time. Mangy's right, they and Pirates will not be forgotten!
And remember mates, no cause is lost, if there is but one fool left to fight for it. |

Mr. Rossio! *waves* Always great to have you and Mr. Elliott pop in! I hope I can speak for many fans in saying that we do really love the complexity of the three pirates films. They are worth watching over and over again and with each time, there is something else that you think of that you didn't catch before. It does speak volumes when a fan can quote an entire bit of a movie without blinking an eye. I really thank you for the fantastic world you and those involved in the making of these films have given me... us.... I never tire of immersing in that world. I've loved it so much I do hope there is more, but if not, that's okay too. _________________

Mr. Rossio it’s an honor you read our boards, sir! My love for POTC has been unwavering since the first time I have seen it! If anything, it has grown and still grows despite the fact the trilogy is over. I for one would love see a Pirates 4! I understand these things take time, but anticipation can be sweet.
Thank you Mr Rossio and Mr Elliott! _________________ "Life's pretty good, and why wouldn't it be? I'm a pirate, after all." - Johnny Depp |
